Tennis 9-Time Grand Slam Champ Seles Retires

Monica Seles officially retired from tennis, five years after she played the last match of a career that included nine Grand Slam singles titles and was interrupted at its height when she was stabbed in the back during a match. She said she had considered a return to professional play for some time, but had now decided not to pursue that. She is 34 years old and said she will continue to play exhibitions, participate in charity events, promote the sport, but will no longer plan her schedule around the tour.
