Merry Christmas
Here it is December 1st already. Thanksgiving came late making for a short shopping time before Christmas. The families are growing so big that it is almost impossible to get them all together any more. That's not all bad because I can attend more than one Christmas dinner. Black Friday shopping is over and guess it wasn't as good as the merchants thought it would be. Now it is Cyber Monday and they are hoping it will make up for less spending on Black Friday. It is a good day to stay in and shop on the computer as it is only 9 degrees with a bitter NW wind and the wind chill is below -20. You can freeze your face in minutes in this cold. I am very happy to stay in the nice warm house and watch TV and snack, haha.

Snow and Cold
We got 2 1/2 inches of snow last night. It is the most so far but it is 6 weeks early. I hope that doesn't mean we are in for a very long cold winter. It was only 7 degrees this morning and is way up to 9 :0) now. It is very sunny out. That is very deceiving as it is also very cold. The neighbor cleared the snow in front of the garage doors. The landlord cleared the driveway with his big skidloader blade. I pushed the snow off the deck early when I got the Sunday paper in. There is a beautiful blue sky to enjoy.

Cataracts
It pays to keep checking your eyes as you age. Even when you are young. My cataract has met maximum time to remove. So in two weeks I will have it taken out of my right eye. Four years ago I had the left one removed and it made such a difference. I think it has compensated for my right eye as I have had really great vision up until lately when it seems there is some small print I have to blink alot to read. My daughter is going to help me with eye drops. That is a blessing. Will, no doubt, get new glasses too. Glad to get done before the snow flies.

Pioneer DDJ SX
When it comes to digital mixing, I can see how important it is to have a good controller. The pioneer ddj sx is a great controller and it has been marked way down. There is also a $200 rebate to check into. It expires October 31, 2014, so if you are looking to purchase, both the lowest price and rebate are certainly something to consider quickly before the rebate runs out. The duel-deck control, slip mode and free download of Serato DJ software is in addition to this great all in one performance controller. They also provide free shipping to the store near you or your home and they have a toll free number so you can reach them with any questions you may have.
Beautiful Fall Weather
We are having beautiful Fall weather at last. It is rather different though. That is because it gets quite cold at night. Then it warms up very nicely during the day. This morning it was only 61 in the house and I turned on the furnace. I turned it up 3 times before I was comfortable. Now it is up to 68 outside and before you know it, I will probably be opening some windows to let some fresh air in. It's a little different with such cold nights and warm days but it is nice and sunny and we are enjoying it. The trees are turning beautiful colors and many leaves are falling already.

Revelations
According to the Bible, there will be signs in the heavens and the earth. The sun, moon and stars were created for signs. Oct 8th there will be the 2nd blood moon of 2014. I hope to see it this time. I missed the one in April. I don't have a good view of the west and I am guessing it will be further down in the western sky by 5:25 am tomorrow morning. This means I will have to get dressed and get in the car and get somewhere I can see the western sky clearly.

Leaves are Falling
I couldn't believe it yesterday when I got the paper in to see all the little leaves on the deck. The tree by the house is already shedding it's leaves. Many are turning but lots are still green. We have had several frosts. Rain is expected today or by supper time. I saw on the news that Denver had both hail and snow so we are blessed if we only get rain. Could be a long cold winder. Starting early.

Haircuts and Styles
I have twin daughters and they both wear their hair differently. They got their hair cut in layers to give it volume and it really looks good. I have a short, curly head of hair. I get it cut or shaped every 4 weeks and then in 3 months get a curly permanent. Permanents seem to be going by the way side as more people are wearing their hair straight. I tried that once a few years ago and my hair was too find and just laid there and looked awful. So I went back to the curly short style. I can get caught in high winds and it doesn't destroy my hairdo. It is easiest for me.

Roofing
Today my son is helping roof his mother-in-laws house. It has been a lot of years since he did that kind of work. I hope he gets along ok. He's not a kid anymore. My landlord and his grandson roofed my garage a couple weeks ago. That was a lot smaller than this house. At least it is low to the ground. The weather is beautiful and cool. The house was only 61 inside when I got up this morning. That was just too cold to shower so turned on the heat for a bit. It is too early to be turning on heat too but it got down in the 40's last night.

Creditors Rights
If you are a creditor and are not aware of creditors rights you are probably searching for a law firm that deals in such matters. This firm handles the many types of creditor problems and are very experienced in all types. A client's working relationship with debtors is important, as well as, often their relationship with other creditors may enter into the problem. Solving these matters well is important to many businesses and often bankruptcy court enters into the matter as well. With 30 years of experience in bankruptcy courts and other courts is a definite plus when choosing a law firm.

Church Dinner
I had a great time at church on Sunday. We have a very good Praise and Worship Group and excellent music. We heard a good message and then afterwards there was food. The men prepared the food this time. They made all the fixings for a wonderful tasty potato bar. Chili, cheese, onions and spices if you wanted to put on top, plus a side of broccoli. There was water and lemonade to drink and cookies for dessert. We always have a host at the table and something to do to help us get to know each other better. It was so much fun and good food and laughs.

My Birthday
I had a great birthday. I started celebrating the day before by shopping for new New Balance shoes that I wear all the time. Then I went to Perkins and had my favorite blueberry pancakes with whipped cream. Then I did more shopping at the Fareway store on my way home. I picked up a few favorites I can't get at home. It was a beautiful sunny day and I had a wonderful time. Then on my Birthday, I went to the wedding of friends at our church and they had a beautiful wedding and a wonderful buffet. It was another gorgeous sunny day. On Sunday, I attended church and then took in the movie "Jersey Boys", however, I thought the language was awful. I celebrated with supper at the Pizza Ranch. They not only have great pizza but wonderful broasted chicken and potatoes, mashed potatoes and gravy and a huge salad bar.

Heat Guns
Every Do It Yourself person should have a useful heat gun in their garage or tool shed. Because www.buyheatshrink.com heat guns have so many great uses, even a hobbiest needs to have one for smaller jobs. It seems so many times in our lives we needed to remove varnish from an old piece of furniture and renew it but we didn't have a great tool like a heat gun. We had to do it the hard way. I can't count how many times we fought with rusted bolts, trying various products to loosen them. Also removing paint was a major project, however, a heat gun would have made much shorter work of these projects.

Corn and the Humidity
I just heard the other day just how many gallons of water the Iowa corn throws out into the air each day. That is why we have such bad humidity here in the summer. There has been fog a couple mornings too, some of it quite thick. This morning when I went out to get the paper on the deck, it was foggy and the air smelled awful. It smelled like a musty mold. I didn't want to stay out there for long. It was sunny for a bit but now is overcast again.

Drums and Percussion Drums
Drums add so much to the music we listen to. At musiciansfriend they have quite a selection of drums. There is a great sale going on and they have the lowest prices around. Quality drums produce the finest of sound. A good drummer on the right drums makes for the best exciting music. Over the years, I have enjoyed a great deal of music and much of it has featured drums. It is great to be able to get the drums you want and save money at the same time.

WIT Rally
It is that time again. The WIT Rally starts today in Forest City, Iowa, the home of the Winnebago. WIT stands for Winnebago International Travelers and they travel all over in their Winnebago. Over 1,000 motor homes will all be lined up by State on the Winnebago grounds. They have all kinds of excellent entertainment for these folks. Most of them have sold their homes and now live in their Winnebago and travel all over. I worked in Personnel at Winnebago for 25 years and was able to go over and see the people, their crafts and much more. I could enjoy the entertainment, as well. It is quite a club.

Family Reunion Picnic
We had a wonderful picnic on the 5th of July. It all started with my brother-in-laws birthday falling on that date. He passed away about 5 years ago and his oldest son kept up the picnic. He has remarried and all her relatives come too, plus those of his first wife who passed away from cancer about 7 years ago. All the cousins love to get together and bring up the old memories when they played together on the farms. A good time was had by all and more food than anyone could eat. It was a beautiful weather day, kind of overcast so not so hot and a good breeze.

Rain
Wow! Have we gotten the rain. We are very blessed though that we don't live in a flooded area. We have had so much rain though the fields are full and many crops are ruined. It's too late to replant too. It could be a bad year for crops. So much corn is used for ethenol too so gas will probably go even higher.

Band Festival Weekend
This is a very busy weekend. Not only is it Memorial Day weekend, but it is also Band Festival in Mason City, Iowa, the famous "River City" that Meridith Willson wrote about "76 Trombones". I know I didn't spell his name correctly but everyone knows about him. This is the 76th year of the Band Festival and they are rounding up 76 people to march with their 76 Trombones in the big parade. It is quite a celebration with lots of food vendors and excitement. People come from miles around and towns are very proud to be chosen to march their bands in the big parade.

Spring Rains
Spring rains are really coming at us this weekend. Sounds like many will be severe. Heard they had a bad tornado in North Carolina. They are expecting snow in many places in the west. The weather is really a mixture. Watching the weather channel. He is telling all about the severe storm watches. Looks like a really wet week next week.

Spring has Sprung
Spring has sprung, the grass has riz. I wonder where the flowers is? Old saying from many years ago. Snow is finally gone and no sign of flowers yet. Heard they hibernate longer when it is so cold and we really had a bad cold winter this year. People are eager to get out in their yards and clean up things when it finally gets to 70 degrees but it sounds like we are in for a colder week next week and maybe even a bit more snow with the rain. I hope not.

New Deck
The neighbors next door have totally remodeled their house. Now they are putting on a new deck. It is kind of fun to watch all the changes they have made. It is so nice in comparison to the way it was before. Their children all have their own rooms now and they added another bathroom. It is all quite nice now.

Sunshine
We have bright sunshine today. But don't let that fool you. We also have strong winds. We had light snow off and on all day yesterday. At least it melts faster now that it is closer to Spring. I push snow off the deck, it seems, every other morning. I saw a Robin the other day and really felt sorry for it. I am sure the ground is so frozen it can't get to a worm to eat. The winds have to be hard on making nests too. I wonder how many have blown out of the trees every year in the strong winds we have. But they seems to be sturdy and raise a family every year. Love to see them hopping around the yard. We know it is Spring when we see the Robins return.

Church Today
We had a great time in church today. First we had a good time of singing with the Praise and Worship team. They do a wonderful job with all kinds of instruments. Then we heard a good message. After that we had a fundraising lunch that was delicious. We have some very good cooks in our church. It seems that most church ladies really know how to cook. Most of them have families so they probably get plenty of experience :0)

Baby's Laugh
It is so much fun to watch the various stages of development of a new baby. It seems first they coo and try to talk. Now my little great granddaughter is just starting to laugh. There is nothing so cute as listening to a baby laugh. Then they find their feet and play with them and their hands. They change so quickly, they are sitting up before you know it. Next comes crawling and then walking and talking. They grow up too fast.

El Nino
I wonder how many people know what El Nino is? Also do they know about La Nina? They have a great deal to do with controlling our weather for the year. We have been in La Nina, which is a cooling of the ocean and we have had really bad winters, less hurricanes and drought in places like the West Coast. It has been in control and doesn't seem to let go. But now scientists think the ocean is beginning to warm. But they aren't sure but it could be El Nino and that would be normal rain for the West Coast and they may get rid of their drought. That would be great as they provide the largest share of vegetables for the USA. It would, however, mean more hurricanes next winter and a milder winter for the midwest. We would love that part of it as we have humungous snow piles built up from trying to keep roads and driveways clear enough to drive on.

Slip and Slide
It has been that kind of winter. Lots of ice under the snow and you better watch out. My brother has fallen about 4 times and really has hurt himself. He's bruised his ribs a couple times and he has bad knees so if he falls, he can't get up without help. March is coming in like a Lion today and sure hope it goes out like a Lamb. But the weathermen don't sound very hopeful. It sounds like it is going to be quite cold and snowy until Mid March. It's going to take quite a while to melt all this snow and the huge snow banks.

Church
We had a big blizzard here a couple days ago. It is still wreaking havoc with the roads. The road graders are having a hard time keeping the roads open and clean. I decided to stay home from church this morning. I do not want to take a chance on landing in the ditch. There are so many wonderful Christian television programs on that I can watch so I don't miss out on learning more from the Bible. I would rather be safe at home than sorry I went out on the road when it is only 14 degrees right now.

Not all families are blessed to have four generations alive at the same time. Some even have five generations and that is really something. Winning Trip
My grandaughter's husband won a trip for them to a nice warm place. They are so lucky to be getting away from these terrible cold termperatures. The grandmothers and grandpa are watching the kids while they are gone. They are missing out on some terrible bitter wind chills and now more snow is on the way. At least it sounds like we won't get a lot this time and it will go mainly south of us. My son lives where their snow had all melted away and now they are talking as much as 5 or 6 inches of new snow. This is one of those winters that will go down in the history books. I believe they said it was back in 1996 and back in the 1980's since we have had a winter like this. I guess we are paying for the last 2 decent winters we have had.

Blizzard Warning
We have been under a blizzard warning since yesterday. Now it is starting up. Snow fell overnight. The light fluffy stuff so when the wind begins to blow it will be whiteout here. They say we could see wind gusts up to 50 and 60 mph making the wind chills about the same as that. This is supposed to last until tomorrow night and then an additional day of below zero temperatures all day long. This has been the hardest winter since 1982 and they say anyone under 40 years has never seen a winter like this one. They have also said we could have "thunder snow". I don't know if we have ever had that before but I guess it means more snow than usual. We can't wait for Spring.

Ice Skates
I never could learn to ice skate. I spent more time sitting on the ice than skating. It might come in handy now if I could ice skate as we have had freezing rain again and all is slick. Makes for dangerous driving too. The winds came up in the night and are gusting as high as 50 mph an hour. We were blessed now to get the couple inches of snow overnight but now I see a few spits of snow in the air. At least we don't have any loose snow on the ground to spoil travelling vision on the roads around here. Other places aren't so blessed.

Terrible Weather
We just went through the big arctic blast that has hit most of the United States. We had days and days of below zero temperatures during the day. Then with the wind chills, it was common to have -50 and -60 wind chills. A great many of my neighbors had frozen pipes. My brother, who lives in another town, had his water freeze up too. He is elderly and I am so glad he had a young friend who could come and thaw out the pipes for him. It has started to warm up. At least it now above zero and it hit 32 today but we got fog that caused freezing on all the roads and a coating over that, making driving and walking dangerous. I am lucky I could stay in and didn't have to go anywhere. It is now 32 degrees and lightly snowing. We don't need any more snow either.

Punching Equipment
There is a very great variety of types of punching equipment that are used in many manufacturing companies. There are as many as 518 models of Ironworker machines that can perform several operations on sheet plate. There are many different types and models of equipment used for punching sheet metal, as well as, a great many other functions. By checking into the Internet, you can find exactly what type you need for the jobs you do.

Sheet of Ice
We had heavy fog last night. Again, today it has gotten foggy also. The fog has caused a total covering of very slippery driving or walking. Then there is a light coating of white over the ice caused by the fog also. You are taking your chanced if you go out on it. I am staying in again today. It isn't worth the risk to go to the mailbox. They are large enough to hold quite a bit of mail and they are locked so it is safe. It seems the mail is mostly advertising, junk mail and catalogs now and for a long time already. Tonight we are to get 1 or 2 inches of snow. That should make walking and driving even more hazardous. I will be glad to see Spring and warm weather. February can be brutal too but I hope it isn't this year.

Imprinted Promotional Items
It is always fun to do business with a company that gives you imprinted promotional items. By checking out the Internet, I found a company that has a huge inventory of every kind of promotional item you can think of. Most of us are used to getting key chains and calendars but there are so many more items that can be imprinted with your company's name and passed out to your customers. It keeps your name before the customer all the time. It is great advertising that lasts and lasts. They have everything from fun items to more serious items such as awards or trophies.
