Whale Fears Silence U S Navy Sonar

The U S Navy has been ordered not to use mid-frequency sonar equipment during training sessions off the coast of California until the end of 2009. Campaigners argued that the sonar harmed marine mammals in the area. A Federal Judge ruled in their favor. They said noise pollution from sonar disorientated whales, causing them to become stranded on beaches.
