Beautiful Fall Weather

We are having the most beautiful Fall weather right now. Last week we had some terrific winds that blew down many trees in some places. But not it has settled down and the trees are turning all kinds of colors. I think they are turning fast and earlier and I hope that doesn't mean an early winter. I see on my calender that I wrote down that we had a bit of snow on Oct 9 and 12th last year. The farmers are out in full force with their combines, bringing in the crops as quickly as they can. It has been so dry, they have no problem getting out into the fields. It is 74 degrees today and supposed to be nice all week. We are going to enjoy every bit of it as it can change overnight around here. We have had some frost already but so far most of the flowers have made it through.

Weather, Heat and Humidity

We have had two days of cooler weather and it has been wonderful. The high heat index dropped. The humidity went away and the breezes began to blow after a number of very hot humid days. We threw open the windows and doors and let in all the fresh air. We turned off the air conditioner and gave it a rest. The nights got so cool you needed a blanket and it felt good to have so much cool fresh air in the house. Now the temperatures are rising and so is the humidity and the air conditioner is back on. Well it won't be long and it will be winter so we will enjoy this now. The first day of fall is only about 25 days away. I think Fall is the prettiest and best time of the year in our State.

Mail Time

It is time to go get the mail. We have about a quarter of a block to walk to our mailboxes. They are all locked and secured so you need your key. The weather has been rotten so it isn't the most fun walking to get the mail. And then to find out it is all ads and catalogs. Now is the season for catalogs by the dozen. A letter would be most welcome instead of all the junk mail.

Raking Leaves - Fall Weather

It was a beautiful day for raking leaves so the neighbor got her 4 children all outside. They had three huge pumpkin colored plastic bags with faces on them. They all worked together and the Mom raked up huge piles of leaves. Then all the kids filled those big bags and tied them up and sat them in front of the house.

They had a lot of fun playing in the leaves as they did it and had a really good time. The little one, being only 2, was thrilled with all these "new" happenings going around her and she had a good time playing in the leaves too. Then they hung some other decorations in the window and put some on stakes along the sidewalk. A big Halloween picture covers the entrance door so it really looks like Halloween season. They will all have a good time going out in their costumes next week and I bet they can hardly wait. Ours will be the first house they stop at for treats.

It Feels Like Fall

Woke up to 45 degrees. Now that is chilly for this time of the year. It is a beautiful sunny day and the wind is blowing and it is down right cold. A light jacket feels mighty good. A sweater around the house with the windows open feels good too. I think we are going to have an early winter and I don't like the sounds of that. It seems to have been an awful short summer. Only 18 more days till the official first day of Fall.
