Global Warming or Global Cooling?

It is almost the end of July and it is about 60 degrees today. Brrrr, it is cold. I have all the windows open a little and the Northwest wind is downright cold. It is supposed to get down to 49 tonight. It is great sleeping weather and sure saves on the air conditioning but it should be in the 80's. I saw on the news that Seattle and Washington and Oregon are suffering under abnormal heat. They don't have air conditioning there because normally they don't need it. Strange summer, this one.

Porcelain Tile

A very easy way to dress up your home and give it a fresh look is to add some porcelain tile in various rooms. The mosaic tiles such as the Aurora would really brighten up any bathroom. There are so many types that will fit any room and they are having a great sale right now. It is 10 percent off all tiles so what a great way to fix up your home and save money at the same time. Check out their website for lots of ideas and all the various types and colors of tile.

Stormy Weather

Sounds like we could be in for some stormy weather. It is sure hot. I just turned the fan on the furnace to circulate some air. We have had the a/c off for several days now and it was good to get fresh air into the house. It was a beautiful sunny day today and not too hot. There was a good breeze but it quit. My husband got the lawn mowed and it looks very nice. Having a small problem with the mower though.

Silver

Looking for a safe investment? Sometimes it really seems hard to do. However, in checking out this website I found that silver is a very real commodity for investments. I didn't realize that of all the silver that has been mined, 95 percent of it has already been used up by industries. Not only that but with the problems of fighting bacteria in this day and age, the health industry has found uses for it also because of its microbicidal qualities. Burn units use it for burn victims to prevent infections. I thought this was very interesting. If silver is being used up so fast, it isn't hard to figure that was is left is becoming more valuable all the time. Check this out and perhaps you will find this is the investment for you.

Taco Salads

Our brother and sister-in-law came to visit from Wisconsin this long weekend. We went many places and at one of the restaurants, they ordered taco salads. I had never seen them served in boat shaped-like dishes. They had broken up the taco shell the taco usually is in, and put it into the ingredients in the salad and mixed it in with the lettuce, olives, cheese, meat and all the fixings for taco salad. They were easily able to eat them with a fork and I am going to have to try that at home because it was so simple and so easy to eat and just looked delicious.

The Demise of the CD

Just about the time we got used to 8-tracks, they came out with cassettes. We no sooner got a big supply of our favorite cassettes when they came out with CD's and a cassette player became obsolete. Now I guess the CD is on it's way out and everything is DVD. Our record player is an antique but it really works good and the radio will tape records onto cassettes. However, that doesn't help much. We have an old radio that will play the cassettes and you can fill it with batteries and take it along but it's too much trouble anymore. Oh yes, and the good old VCR bit the dust too so I am hanging onto the ones I have until they quit. When does this all end?

Electrodes

The medical profession uses so many kinds of electrodes but this online website has them all, I believe. In checking their website, I found many kinds and you could save quite a bit of money buying from them. They are also giving free shipping until midnight Thursday so if you hurry you can save even more. They also have a complete inventory of all other medical supplies and even exercise equipment. Look up their website for all your medical needs. They have been in business since 1996 but in 1998, they expanded to include many retail products and Maternity/Baby Supplies and nutritional diet supplements. Before you shop elsewhere check with them to see if they have what you need.

Mattresses

There are sure a lot of different kinds of mattresses these days. We have one regular standard mattress on one bed and a pillow top mattress on another. It seems today that the adjustable beds are making a lot of headway in the market. But I have also heard that the Sleep Number bed is the one to get as you can really adjust it to suit you. It is a real puzzle as to which is best. Our son and his wife have tried quite a few and taken them back and have ended up with the Sleep Number bed so it must be pretty comfortable.

Old Theater Restoration

Ou little town had a going theater back in the 40's. For many years after it shut down it was a pharmacy. Several pharmacists came and went and the last one built a new building on the edge of town, leaving the building empty. A committee in town got together and decided to strip the building down and see what was there. They found old paintings on the walls from the original theater. They gave tours during the last summer town celebration and it was quite interesting to see it. There is a lot of work to be done yet, but I think it will be real addition to the town for us to have a theater here again. The young people have little to do but sports and the bowling alley closed, so it will give them some entertainment, along with the older generation as well.

Local Fairs

This is the time of year when all the local fairs are going on. We used to go to a lot of them but time changes things. It gets harder and harder to walk what seems like miles and miles around a fair. Our local fair is this week and we may get down there one night. Will see how it goes. I think the weather is supposed to be good all weekend. I really hope so. All the 4H kids are having their County Fairs too and showing off their animals. We have friends who have kids attending those. Hope they win some Blue Ribbons.

Crops in Iowa

The corn and bean crops in north central Iowa look beautiful right now. They are at their peak. The corn is tasseling and we will be seeing the ears forming very soon. Looking out across the beautiful green bean fields is a real treat. The corn was about waist to shoulder high by the 4th of July. They always say it should be knee high by the 4th but it was way taller than that again this year. Now the farmers hope and pray there won't be any hail storms or bad wind storms to knock the corn down and make it hard to combine. Summer is going way too fast and it hasn't really been hot as it usually is. In fact, it has been downright cold many days. That doesn't help the crops grow.

Family Vacation

It is summer and vacation is on everyone's mind. Where do you want to go this year? How about a family vacation on the white sand beaches of the Riviera Maya? There are five of the loveliest Karisma Hotels there, each one a bit different from the rest.

If you feel all tied up in knots from stress, you may want to reserve a beautiful room at the Azul Blue where they don't know the meaning of stress. You own personal butler will unpack your suitcases and draw you an aromatic bath. Then you can put on your beach robe and go out on the white sand beach and relax in one of the four poster cabana beds. Why not go to the spa and let them pamper you with all kinds of soothing treatments. You will feel like a new person. Visit their website and see the four other fabulous Hotels available. I know there are more than one you will just love.

Swing Sets and Slides

Our neighbors have a really nice swing set for their 4 kids and a slide. It is fun to watch the 3 year old climb up the slide backwards. Why is it kids like to climb up the slide as well as slide down it? I can remember doing the very same thing. I was keeping an eye on her though as she would climb up the slide and then stand on the top and I was hoping she wouldn't lose her balance and fall off. She didn't, fortunately. They all ride their bikes a lot and she has training wheels yet but she's out there with the older kids riding every day.

The Neighbor's Cats

The neighbors have two cats named Ely and LC. Funny names aren't they? They got them both from a shelter and they both needed good homes. They have an excellent loving family taking care of them now. LC is older and sleeps a lot but Ely is full of it. You have to watch him because when the weather isn't too hot or cold, he will make a dash for the outside. I am going to feed them and make sure their litter box is ok while the neighbors go on vacation. Ely spills his water sometimes but they make very little mess and are really good cats.

Cookie Dough

In our little town, we have a cookie dough factory. They make it in buckets that will keep a very long time in the freezer. It will also keep a long time in the refrigerator when you thaw it out. I love it because you can bake 6 cookies or 3 dozen at a time. You can bake just as many as you need or want.

It comes in all kinds of wonderful flavors, from chocolate chunk, sugar, peanut butter, chocolate chocolate chunk, etc. Our church is having a fund raiser and lots of people in the church are selling it. It is only $10 a bucket and I am going to have to get a couple buckets. With just the two of us, I like to bake 6-12 at a time so I always have a few fresh cookies. White chocolate macadamia nut is also a great favorite. Doesn't it just make you hungry for a warm yummy cookie?

I really think that one of the hardest parts of a diet is finding diet pills that work. I wish I had all the money I have spent on worthless diet pills. There are so many on the market these days and they all claim to be the best to take those unwanted pounds off you quickly. But do they? No! Now you can go to this website and they have done so much of the work for you. They have them rated by many factors and the prices are great. Save money and get the pill that will do the job for you without wasting any more money guessing at the store.

Horse Supplies

It is important to get the right horse supplies for your horses. And at the same time, it is great to be able to save some money also. This website has a fine line of everything you need from prescription medicines to saddles. They also have pony supplies and draft horse supplies.

We have quite a few people around here that raise draft horses and this would be a good website for them to check into for their needs. They even have an equine bargain center that you will want to check out for the latest in bargains. Everyone loves a bargain and you can even shop bargains by price. It is all so easy.

Colon Cancer Surgery

My husband had colon cancer surgery on April 29. It was a huge success. The tumor was very large and beginning to grow into the side of the colon. He had a colonoscopy 5 years ago and there was nothing there so you can see how fast they can grow. They took 19 lymph glands and all 19 were perfectly cancer free. How blessed we are. The Lord took care of everything.

Then he had to have another lesser surgery in early June and that was a great success too. It is great to have such a good God and he provides us with the best surgeons available.

Before we know it, winter will be back upon us. You know trudging through the snow that your feet are the first thing to get cold. Travel with me to Australia by way of the Internet and visit the website Ugg womens shoes. This is the place to get delightfully soft, warm, sheepskin lined shoes, boots and slippers too. There is a very good chance that once you try their footwear, you won't want any other. I can almost feel the softness on my feet now, just sitting here imagining myself in a pair of those marvelous boots.

Poison Darts and World War II

Back in 1941, England looked into dropping poison darts from planes on German troops. This was when Britain was facing a possible Nazi invasion after the fall of France. The National Archives made public formerly top secret documents. They show that plans called for packing more than 30,000 darts into a single cluster bomb that could saturate a zone where enemy forces were exposed. They had already tested the poisoned darts against sheep and goats at a biological weapons station in Canada. However, they were never used again humans for military purposes. Wouldn't that have been horrendous?
