New Deck

The neighbors next door have totally remodeled their house. Now they are putting on a new deck. It is kind of fun to watch all the changes they have made. It is so nice in comparison to the way it was before. Their children all have their own rooms now and they added another bathroom. It is all quite nice now.

Sunshine

We have bright sunshine today. But don't let that fool you. We also have strong winds. We had light snow off and on all day yesterday. At least it melts faster now that it is closer to Spring. I push snow off the deck, it seems, every other morning. I saw a Robin the other day and really felt sorry for it. I am sure the ground is so frozen it can't get to a worm to eat. The winds have to be hard on making nests too. I wonder how many have blown out of the trees every year in the strong winds we have. But they seems to be sturdy and raise a family every year. Love to see them hopping around the yard. We know it is Spring when we see the Robins return.

Church Today

We had a great time in church today. First we had a good time of singing with the Praise and Worship team. They do a wonderful job with all kinds of instruments. Then we heard a good message. After that we had a fundraising lunch that was delicious. We have some very good cooks in our church. It seems that most church ladies really know how to cook. Most of them have families so they probably get plenty of experience :0)

Baby's Laugh

It is so much fun to watch the various stages of development of a new baby. It seems first they coo and try to talk. Now my little great granddaughter is just starting to laugh. There is nothing so cute as listening to a baby laugh. Then they find their feet and play with them and their hands. They change so quickly, they are sitting up before you know it. Next comes crawling and then walking and talking. They grow up too fast.

El Nino

I wonder how many people know what El Nino is? Also do they know about La Nina? They have a great deal to do with controlling our weather for the year. We have been in La Nina, which is a cooling of the ocean and we have had really bad winters, less hurricanes and drought in places like the West Coast. It has been in control and doesn't seem to let go. But now scientists think the ocean is beginning to warm. But they aren't sure but it could be El Nino and that would be normal rain for the West Coast and they may get rid of their drought. That would be great as they provide the largest share of vegetables for the USA. It would, however, mean more hurricanes next winter and a milder winter for the midwest. We would love that part of it as we have humungous snow piles built up from trying to keep roads and driveways clear enough to drive on.

Slip and Slide

It has been that kind of winter.  Lots of ice under the snow and you better watch out.  My brother has fallen about 4 times and really has hurt himself.  He's bruised his ribs a couple times and he has bad knees so if he falls, he can't get up without help.  March is coming in like a Lion today and sure hope it goes out like a Lamb.  But the weathermen don't sound very hopeful.  It sounds like it is going to be quite cold and snowy until Mid March.  It's going to take quite a while to melt all this snow and the huge snow banks.
