Family Fun

Had a good time yesterday with familly.  There was so much food and all the women made every kind of Christmas cookie and candy.  If you went away hungry it was your own fault.  There was 8 little ones 6 and under running around.  At times, you couldn't hear yourself think but that didn't last long and they were off to play downstairs with toys.  Everyone was busy with their cameras taking pictures.  I got to hold my newest great granddaughter for the first time.  She is a month old and a real cutie. A good time was had by all.

New Baby Great Grandaughter

Since I last wrote, I gained a beautiful new baby great granddaughter.  She is the first for her parents so they are really happy.  They are enjoying the baby sooo much.  That makes 17 great grandchildren for me now.  What a blessing.

Police Car

I think nothing could be more exciting to children than a Police Car.  It has so much equipment inside of it.  They love to hear the siren too.  They are having fun for a few minutes in their Grandpa's car. It doesn't seem that long ago when his children were small and looking out the window of his Highway Patrol Car. It's great fun!

Brother and Sisters

My little brother isn't so little anymore.  Neither is my sister.  We had a big party last weekend.  They were both able to attend.  A good visit and a good time was had by everyone.  Of course, pictures were taken.  A great many pictures were taken and I am anxious to see them all.  Many so far have turned out so good.  It is fun to get everyone together.  Some hadn't seen each other in years and some of the kids had grown so much, my brother didn't know them.  It was a lot of fun.

My Birthday

Wow! When two people get married, they have no idea of how much their family will grow.  I had a great birthday on Saturday.  All the kids, grandkids and great grandkids were there.  My brother and sister were also there.  Much extended family attended also.  My daughter-in-law's sister decorated and brought the most beautiful birthday cake.  A wonderful time was all.  my best friend and her 89 year old Mom stopped in too.  Many many pictures were taken. A great time was had by all.

Swimming Pool Time

Part of the family spent their time in a new swimming pool.  It was a hot weekend so that was very enjoyable.  My daughter had made so many different 4th of July treats and her daughters-in-law also made many.  If you didn't get enough to eat, it was your fault.  Last night my daughter made homemade enchiladas and they were soooo good.  I got to bring home a few treats too to eat later.  It was a fun Holiday with the best ever Fireworks the night of the 4th.  Also had a family reunion on Saturday and a nephew came who has moved back here from Florida.  I hadn't seen him in maybe 10 years or more.  That was a treat too.

Cold Shower

On a nice warm day it is so much fun to run thru a cold shower of water.  My little great granddaughter is having the time of her life running thru the sprinkler.  All the kids are enjoying being outside.  When they can run and play in the water it is so much fun.  I remember doing that too as a child.  We always played outside 90% of the time from sun up to sundown.  It is so much fun to hear their squeals of laughter as they run thru the cold water.

Great Grandchildren

Grandchildren are great.  However, I think great grandchildren are even better yet.  You babysit grandchildren when they are small for your children, but when the great grandchildren come along, your children get that chance.  There are so many birthday parties, you get to enjoy cake and ice cream a lot.  Also great meals usually go along with the birthday parties.  I have 13 great grandchildren now and I am sure there will be lots more in the future whether I am here to see them or not. :0)

Smiles

There are all different kinds of smiles.  This little guy is my great grandson.  He always has the biggest smile.  He's always so happy and he's always glad to see you.  He plays so well with his older brother and sister, smiling all the time.  He's busy walking now as good as he can.  He will soon be chasing them around the house.  It is funny to see such a little person walking at first but they grow up fast.

My Brother

I am going over to visit with my brother today.  We always go out for Mexican food.  We both love it and is our favorite.  I love to try new things on the menu and have gotten him to try other burritos other than just tacos.  Of course, our favorite dessert is the churros, rolled in lots of cinnamon sugar.  That is always a special treat.  Normally we don't eat that much sugar but you can't resist the churros.  We have a Mexican Restaurant here in town but they don't make them even half as good.  It is a beautiful sunny day to go over to his house after a snowy, strong windy day yesterday and it is warming up some today.

Taco Tuesday

Tomorrow is Taco Tuesday with my brother.  We have had the worst weather the last two weeks and I haven't been able to get over there to go with him for lunch.  It looks like it is going to be the warmest day this week.  Should be in the 30's which is a regular heat wave compared to what it has been.  Watching the sun go down and the sky is really pretty.  Red sky at night, sailor's delight and it looks like it is going to be a good day.

Birthday Special

It was my great grandson's 1st birthday and the theme was football. His Dad decorated a cake like a football field with green astroturf and all, made of frosting.  On top was a chocolate football.  I thought one of the neatest things was the fruit bowl.  It was a small watermelon cut out like a football helmet.  I've never seen anything like it and thought it was really neat and bet you will too when you look at this picture.

Fun on Halloween

Here are two of my little great granddaughters in their costumes.  They are ready to go out for their first Trick and Treat on Halloween.  Aren't they just little dolls?  Next year they will really enjoy it more being older.  The first Halloween's are kind of different for them as they don't quite understand the reason for the costumes.  They all know the meaning of candy though, don't they?  They had a lot of fun.

Birthday Parties

November and December are big months in our extended family for birthdays.  I have 13 great grandchildren and most of them have been born during those months.  Most of mine were born in November and December and one son in January.  He not only brightened our lives, but he brightened my family ring with a red stone among the blue and yellow ones.  We are going to a big party for two of the great grandsons this weekend.  That means lots of fun and food for all in attendance.

Chuck E Cheese

This seems to be the favorite of all kids.  Here grammy and grandpa are having a ball with some of their grandkids.  It is always so much fun to stay with grandparents.  They love to spoil the kids and it is so much fun.  Good food too is always a joy.  The grandkids look forward to spending as much time as possible with their grandparents.

Family Visit

My youngest son and wife are coming today.  We are all going out to lunch at the Pizza Ranch.  You just can't beat their food.  It is just about the best place to eat in our little town.  It seems hard to keep a good restaurant in this town where you can sit down and order a steak.  It's been many years since we had such a restaurant here.  But there is plenty of fast food like Subway, Hardees, Chinese, and more.  The town is growing as the industries are growing.  They need welders all the time it seems. 

Mother's Little Helper

It is wash day today and Mother's Little Helper is checking it out. He is growing up so fast. Pulls himself up to everything now. He will be walking very soon. His Mom has her hands full taking care of three little ones. Their ages are 9 months, 2 years and 4 years. I remember when all 5 of ours were 5 and under. The last two were twins which made double the work but double the pleasure too. Now they are all married and a couple have grandchildren. How time flies.

Fun with the Grandkids

It was fun for all and lots of good pizza. Here you see Grammy having a great time with a couple of her grandchildren. It is always fun when they get together. The kids had the time of their lives. They love their grandparents so much. It is fun to watch them all play together.

The Old Tire Swing

Remember the days of the old tire swing? We had one and we used it a great deal every summer and even in the winter sometimes. It is a simple way to provide lots of fun for children and inexpensive too. Here you see two of the great grandchildren having the time of their lives playing on the tire swing. There is so much nice room to run and play on the farm.

Recycle and Garbage Day Tomorrow

I had built up 3 weeks of garbage, 2 sacks full of newspapers and magazines and a big sack of junk mail. Also had a recycle bin that was nearly full. All were pretty heavy and I pulled a muscle awhile back in my back so my son-in-law hauled it all out for me. Tomorrow is pickup day. I usually just have one yellow sack with some garbage in it but I really had a lot today and was glad to have the help. It's great to be able to call on family to help you out. They are all so good about that.
