Swimming Pool Time
Part of the family spent their time in a new swimming pool. It was a hot weekend so that was very enjoyable. My daughter had made so many different 4th of July treats and her daughters-in-law also made many. If you didn't get enough to eat, it was your fault. Last night my daughter made homemade enchiladas and they were soooo good. I got to bring home a few treats too to eat later. It was a fun Holiday with the best ever Fireworks the night of the 4th. Also had a family reunion on Saturday and a nephew came who has moved back here from Florida. I hadn't seen him in maybe 10 years or more. That was a treat too.

Birthday Parties
November and December are big months in our extended family for birthdays. I have 13 great grandchildren and most of them have been born during those months. Most of mine were born in November and December and one son in January. He not only brightened our lives, but he brightened my family ring with a red stone among the blue and yellow ones. We are going to a big party for two of the great grandsons this weekend. That means lots of fun and food for all in attendance.

Bash on the Farm
This is a big weekend. It is Bash on the Farm weekend. Three miles out south of our town on a farm, these folks have some 40 bands coming for Friday afternoon and night and all day Saturday and Saturday night. There is music to suit everyone. There is plenty of food, games for the kids too. Expecting over 3000 or more this year. This is the 10th year for the Bash. Don't miss it.

Cats
The neighbors have two cats and they are gone for the weekend. My neighbor called and asked if I would go over and feed them and make sure they have plenty of water until they get back. They have a neat automatic litter box for them too that I have to keep an eye on in case of power failure. Then you have to reset it. It automatically scrapes the litter periodically into a box at the end. This enables you to change that box when it is full without ever touching the litter. Both cats are excited when I come because it means they get more food. Their dishes are usually empty and they are especially hungry in the morning. One is kind of laid back and the other wants to play. Cats can be quite entertaining.

Graduations
It is the season of graduations. One grandson just graduated from college. Another graduates from High School and his reception is Saturday. Another grandson is graduating from 8th grade Christian School and his party is next Thursday. We are going to be busy this weekend and next. Also have a cousin flying in from California for a family get-together on Sunday. Good food will be had at everything so will really have to watch it and not overeat.

Consumer Prices Surge
At the fastest pace in 20 months, consumer prices rose in May. This was fueled by another big rise for gas and also, an increase in food prices, as well. However, prices for cars, airline tickets, clothes, and computers all fell. An increase of 0.7 percent was posted by the Consumer Price Index. This was the biggest one month gain since the fall of 2005 after Hurricane Katrina shut down Gulf Coast oil production and energy prices surged. If you exclude food and energy, the increase for so-called inflation was just 0.1 percent,
