Band Festival Weekend

This is a very busy weekend. Not only is it Memorial Day weekend, but it is also Band Festival in Mason City, Iowa, the famous "River City" that Meridith Willson wrote about "76 Trombones". I know I didn't spell his name correctly but everyone knows about him. This is the 76th year of the Band Festival and they are rounding up 76 people to march with their 76 Trombones in the big parade.It is quite a celebration with lots of food vendors and excitement. People come from miles around and towns are very proud to be chosen to march their bands in the big parade.

Wedding Reception

We went to a lovely wedding reception Saturday night and we were blessed to ride along with our daughter and son-in-law. It was held in Music Man Square and just off to one side was the home of Meridith Wilson, the "Music Man" himself. Of course, he is dead now, but his music will live on forever. The Square is made of up of quaint old time stores, some of them to look at and some of them for shopping. An old-time car graces the entry way and many other things to look at. It was very enjoyable. The bride was gorgeous and the groom is handsome and they make a lovely couple.
