Cataracts

It pays to keep checking your eyes as you age. Even when you are young. My cataract has met maximum time to remove. So in two weeks I will have it taken out of my right eye. Four years ago I had the left one removed and it made such a difference. I think it has compensated for my right eye as I have had really great vision up until lately when it seems there is some small print I have to blink alot to read. My daughter is going to help me with eye drops. That is a blessing. Will, no doubt, get new glasses too. Glad to get done before the snow flies.

Cataract Surgery

Our sister-in-law is having a cataract removed Tuesday. My husband had them removed from both eyes. It takes a lot of eye drops over many days and a couple of weeks to recover completely. But it is great to have 20-20 vision afterwards. She will be very happy to have it done as she has a great deal of trouble with her vision in that eye. I told her to go to the eye clinic as her doctor is getting old and doesn't keep up. He told her it wasn't ready and it was more than ready to be removed. They say if you have an old doctor - dump him. We have found that to be true a couple of times already.

New Eye Glasses

My husband finally got his new eye glasses today after two cataract surgeries that were very successful. He has 20-20 vision now in both eyes and just has a little bifocal to read with. He said it sure makes a difference as he was straining to read and his eyes were getting very tired every day. They loaned him a little pair of reading glasses but they were so scratched he really didn't even like using them. He's a happy man now having gone about 2 months without new glasses.

Cataract Surgery

Cataract surgery is amazing. It takes longer to get the patient ready for the surgery that it takes to do the surgery. The surgery is about 10 minutes and you go from being almost legally blind to 20-20 vision. My husband has had both eyes operated on now and he has 20-20 and 20-30 vision and the doctor says in 2 weeks he will have 20-20 vision in the latest eye surgery. He will only need photogray lenses because his eyes have always been very sensitive to light and a bifocal just for reading, although he can read without glasses, but it is a bit harder. In 3 weeks he will have his new glasses and the world already looks so much different without the cataracts clouding the lenses in his eyes. It is just great.
