Thoughts on Life and Death

No matter how old you live to be, life is short. The Bible says life is like a vapor. That is certainly true. As you get older, you look back and wonder where all those years went so quickly. Also, there is joy in Heaven when a Christian who has accepted Jesus as Savior, passes from this life into Heaven. Today, a family member passed from this life to Heaven and she is no longer burdened with the illness of this world. For her it is a happy day, but for her immediate family it is also a sad day of loss of a loved one.

Elvis Presley's Anniversary Vigil

Thousands of fans are gathering to mark the 30th anniversary of Elvis Presley's death with a candlelight vigil at the singer's Memphis home, Graceland. Visitors will make the pilgrimage to his grave to remember "The King" who died August 16, 1977 at the age of 42. Ex-wife Priscilla Presley and daughter, Lisa Marie are both expected to attend. Fans have traveled from around the world for events to remember and celebrate the super star's life and music. The vigil is an annual event that started as an impromptu gathering on the first anniversary. This year it is expected to go on until the early hours of the morning.

Chinese Vice-Premier Huang Dies

Chinese Vice-Premier Huang, Ju, one of the most senior leaders in China, has died at the age of 65 in Beijing. the official Xinhus news agency has reported. He was in charge of financial and economic policymaking in the Politburo, China's highest decision making body. He had not attended official functions since March 2006, when it was announced he was ill, reportedly with cancer. He was described as a "long tested and faithful Communist fighter" and an "oustanding leader" in his official obituary.
