Turkish Troops Missing After Raid

An attack by Kurdish rebels on Sunday that left 12 dead, have eight Turkish troops still missing. This was confirmed by the Turkish military. The statement came as a news agency, believed to be linked to the rebels, named seven of the missing troops. Protests in Turkey have put pressure on the government to launch raids on rebel positions inside Iraq, but Ankara has vowed to pursue political solutions. Iraq's president says the rebels are set to announce a ceasefire.

Italians Seized in Afghanistan

It appears that Italian authorities say they believe that two missing soldiers serving in western Afghanistan have been abducted. They believe they have been kidnapped together with two Afghans. The defense ministry said that a search was underway. They lost contact with the men after they crossed a police checkpoint in Herat province. The two Italian soldiers were believed to be in the company of their Afghan driver and translator.It is hoped they will find them soon.

Aviation Adventurer Fossett Missing

Millionaire adventurer, Steve Fosset, who has cheated death time and again in his successful pursuit of aviation records, was missing Tuesday after taking off in a single engine plane the day before to scout locations for a land-speed record. Teams searched in a broad swath of rugged terrain in western Nevada near the ranch where he took off but searchers had little to go on because he apparently didn't file a flight plan according to a Federal Aviation Administration spokesman
