Rain and Night Driving

I used to have an Aunt that traveled alot by car and she loved to drive. She said her favorite time to drive was at night in the rain. I would say that is my least favorite time to drive. It is hard to see the dividing lines between lanes when it is raining hard and the lights of the cars reflect funny on the wet windshield. I had to drive home in the rain last night about 25 miles and I do not like it. The rain has finally stopped this morning and I don't think it is supposed to rain until Monday. I am sure glad of that.

Grandchildren

We are going to have 2 more grandchildren this year for Christmas. The girls are due almost the same day near Dec. 1. Our granddaughter and her husband have a little 17 month old daughter now. Our grandson and his wife have a little l7 month old son. And now they are both going to do it again. This will make our son-in-law and daughter double grandparents for the second time in 4 years. It is one for the books I think. Not only that but the grandson and granddaughter are twins and were married a week apart so they continue to do everything together it would appear. Such excitement.

Taliban Militants Tighten Grip in Pakistan

Pushing out from a valley where the government has agreed to impose Islamic law and patrolling villages as close as 60 miles from the capital, Taliban militants have extended their grip in northwestern Pakistan. Police and officials appear to have fled as armed militants also broadcast radio sermons and spread fear in Buner district, just 60 miles from Islamabad. Pakistan's president signed off on the peace pact last week in hopes of calming Swat, where some two years of clashes between the Taliban and security forces have killed hundreds and displaced up to a third of the one ti,e tourist haven's 1.5 million residents.

Fidel Castro says President Barack Obama "misinterpreted" his brother Raul's remarks regarding the United States. He bristled at the suggestion that Cuba should free political prisoners or cut taxes on dollars people send to the island.

Raul Castro touched of a whirlwind of speculation last week that the U.S. and Cuba could be headed toward a thaw after nearly a half century of chilly relations.
