Wild Weather
This has been the worst Spring ever! We had so much cold weather when it was supposed to be warm. Then we had wet weather all thru April and May. We hardly got a break at any time. Then on May 2 we got 11" of snow. Who gets snow in Iowa in May? Not for many many years. Then we had snow again that night and the next day. Would it ever end? It did finally quit snowing and the sun came out and melted it away in a few days but then the rains started. The house swelled from all the rain hitting it and I can't get the storm door open and shut so had to quit using it altogether for awhile. Today is supposed to be sunny and it isn't. It is cloudy and the grass is almost ready to bale. This is not a good thing. The dandelions came and went and still we couldn't mow. My son-in-law mowed his lawn in the rain. I see others doing that too. They are desperate to get the lawns mowed and it keeps growing. For 2 years we couldn't get rain and the lawns nearly died out. Now we are getting way too much rain. We are staying below normal in temperatures too. We do have to be thankful that we haven't had any tornadoes. I feel so bad for Oklahoma. They just can't seem to get away from the tornadoes. A mother and her baby died last night in a tornado. That is so sad.

Rain Storm
At last we are getting Spring rain. We are also having thunder and lightning. There is a great deal of wind with it too. The sky is really dark so may rain all day. We need the rain to settle all the winter dirt. Will get rid of the last of the snow piles. Tulips are up and will be happy to have rain after the beautiful sunshine yesterday. We have been in drought for a long time so the rain is very welcome.

Rain!
It is raining here! We haven't really seen much rain which is a good thing when it is below zero. But it is above zero now so it should help take down some of the snow. It has been raining off and on since last night. The deck was really wet and some got in the mailbox and got the paper a bit wet. But we are glad to see the moisture. I know it will run off but it is March and soon Spring will officially be here. Then the frost in the ground will go and the rain can soak in. They say we need at least 16 inches of rain to make up for the bad drought we have had here.

50 MPH Wind Gusts
Oh my goodness, is it windy. I went to get the mail and could hardly get my car door open. It has been blowing very hard all day with wind gusts up to 50 MPH. I had to be careful getting back into the car that the door didn't slam on my leg or foot. I had several errands to run and then it started to rain a little on top of the wind. It looks like it has all gone North of us though and I am happy for that.

Early Spring
I think we must have an early Spring. The trees are all budded. The tulips are out. The forecast is calling for some rain instead of snow. It is going to be in the 60's and even 70 this coming week. It is so neat to open windows in March and let fresh air in. Only traces of snow piles anywhere and they are ice so take longer to melt away. I love it!

TexMex for Supper Tonight
We went out for supper tonight. It was sprinkling a bit and we weren't sure if it was going to rain or not. However, it had already poured where we were going and had stopped. But you could see puddles alongside the road and the road was really wet so you knew the rain has passed by. We had a great Mexican supper and were back home before any rain. It looks quite dark in the west though and I heard the television say there is a severe thunderstorm warning west of us so we might get rain yet.

Thunder and Lightning
Here it is March and we had all kinds of thunder and lightning last night. When we got up it was still pouring rain and had about a minute of tiny little hail too. Someone from a town 20 miles from us said they had a bit of snow, hail and the rain too. We are finally getting rid of our snow except for the huge piles. I know they are all ice on the bottom so that will take some really warm days to melt down. We have been seeing Robins now and the tulips are coming up so Spring is finally here.

High Wind Warning
We have a high wind warning here till 1 PM. I just felt my chair shake a bit and that is very unusual. The trees are taking a beating and those not strong enough, will surely go down today. We had some good rain yesterday but now a cold wave is moving through. We will probably get more rain later in the week from Tropical Storm Hermine that is hitting Texas. Bet our grandkids are glad they are out of there and back in Iowa now. It is only 57 degrees and cloudy so guess I will go get my sweater.

Rain at Last
We are starting to get a little rain today. The ground is so dry it is cracked. The flowers need watering really bad. Have been putting water on some of them but hate to drag out the hose. We are supposed to get some pretty heavy rain in the next few hours so will wait and see. Put a few new Iris bulbs in and they need all the water they can get. Starting to show signs of growing already.

The Rain
The rain is really coming down now in buckets. The wind is blowing so hard you can hardly hold onto your car door when you open it. I went to get the mail and had to hang onto it for dear life or it would blow out of my hand. Our mailboxes are out in the open so I got wet too. It has dropped 10 degrees, as well. It hasn't been a very pleasant day but it is the day the Lord has made so we will rejoice and be glad in it. It makes everything grow and the leaves on the trees and flowers bloom.

Rain Again
It is raining again. We had about 3 decent days and the farmers were trying very hard to get into wet fields and get the crops out. We saw many semis and tractors with double wagons sitting at the elevator. It will be a long night for the elevator from now on in every town. However, now it is supposed to rain again for several days. That is bad. We are just hoping it doesn't snow early again or a lot of it.

Rain and Night Driving
I used to have an Aunt that traveled alot by car and she loved to drive. She said her favorite time to drive was at night in the rain. I would say that is my least favorite time to drive. It is hard to see the dividing lines between lanes when it is raining hard and the lights of the cars reflect funny on the wet windshield. I had to drive home in the rain last night about 25 miles and I do not like it. The rain has finally stopped this morning and I don't think it is supposed to rain until Monday. I am sure glad of that.

Corn Harvest Time
The farmers are really having a hard time of it with all the rain we have been having. I heard the other day that only 1/5 of the corn had been harvested by this time compared to 1/2 normally by now. We have had so much cold weather too and west of us the snow is piling up. There are even blizzard warnings out in some places in Nebraska.
My cousin in Denver says they get a lot of snow and heard it was headed to Denver too so I would guess everything is white there by now. I hope it holds off for a couple months yet around here. My husband says he can remember one year that the farmers had to wait until Spring to combine the corn because we had an early deep snow. That would be awful, wouldn't it?

Bad Weather
There is considerable bad weather west of us. They are talking a great deal of snow in several states. It feels like it could snow here as cold as it is. It has been raining heavily all day and they thought we might see a snow flake or two. That is the last thing we want to see. It was really pouring at noon but it let us for a bit so I got in the car and went and got the mail. I had a few errands to run so got them all done and back in the warm house. The wind the last two days has been very strong too. I hope the snow goes north of us like they are saying. It is only October 23 and too early for snow although we have seen a dusting on Halloween before in the past ten years. The longer it stays away, then it won't stick and be around for November and December. It can wait for New Years for me and that would be too soon. The older we get the less we like the snow.

Rain
Rain is on the way again. We have had more rain this Spring and now it is Summer. And it is still raining. I think it is in the forecast for everyday for the rest of the week. I hope it misses us. It really needs to dry out in the fields. The tractors are sitting there with the planters but it is too wet to plant. This will only make the world food shortage worse as a lot of corn will not survive the flooding.

Sudden Storms
We are having sudden storms here. Once minute the sun is out and the next minute the wind is blowing 50 mph. It is raining quite hard from the south this time. We just heard that two cities in Iowa are flooding and it keeps going on down south and flooding more and more. So many farmers are losing their crops. It is a serious situation.

Tornadoes and Flooding
We had nothing but tornadoes flying around last night everywhere. The sky looked terrible. We didn't know whether to go to the shelter or not. No sirens went off so we stayed home. Everything was ok but did we ever get the rain after that. We don't have a basement and we are lucky because they are all full of water in this town.

Stormy Weather
They say there are some thunder storms to the north of us. It is no wonder as it was 90 on our deck yesterday. We turned the air conditioner on again after having it off for a week. We have run it all summer, it has been so hot. It sounds like we will have rain this afternoon and maybe tonight. It will interrupt the harvest but I am sure we need the rain anyway. It dries off fast this time of the year. The wind is always blowing.

Rain
Boy, is it raining here. It has been raining all night and this morning it really started coming down hard. It looks like one of our rain spouts got some leaves or something in it again and it is washing away some of the flowers in the flower bed that we just planted. Every year we go through this, no matter how many times we climb the ladder and clean it out. It just washes the dirt downhill along with the plants. This is the last time I am going to try and plant anything there. I have had it! We have 2" of rain already and they are talking rain tomorrow.

Wind And Rain
Wow! Have we been getting the wind and rain. Not as much rain as we would like but it has been raining some at least. The corn crop needs it pretty bad and the farmers are getting really nervous as alot of this corn crop will be sold to the biodiesel plants for making ethanol. The other day we had 80 mph winds and the town is full if downed trees and branches. We saw semi loads of whole trees being taken out to the country day before yesterday. The guys with the wood chipper are going to have their work cut out for them this month with all the branches everywhere.
