Cooking for One

I thought cooking for two was hard when our last child left home. However, now I am cooking for myself only and that is much harder. It is very hard to make any quantity of anything or you have to eat leftovers forever it seems. It is nice when others give you something to take home and it tastes so good for a change. This week, I had a great casserole and biscuits at my daughter's and she sent home a bowl of chili. It is so nice to have something new and different for lunch and I don't have to think about what I am going to fix.

Funeral Visitation

i lost another brother-in-law last week and we went down to the visitation. I would rather go to visitations than funerals as you can visit with the family more, or so it seems. The whole family is growing quite old so it seems funerals are becoming more and more frequent. He was 88 so he had a long life but the last 10 years were spent in a nursing home so that isn't much quality of life. He went in his sleep and I guess that would have to be the most peaceful way to go.

If you love to travel, it is always a good idea to be a part of a roadside assistance club. You never know when you might break down and need assistance. High School Graduate

I was a high school graduate in l951. Can you imagine that/ we had a 60th class reunion Saturday night in my home town. It was a lot of fun and there was a very good turnout. I was surprised at how much everyone aged in 10 years since the 50th class reunion. It really made a difference in most people. Many I didn't recognize at all. I hope to get down to more of the class luncheons they have inbetween the years. Time is going way too fast.

Beautiful Fall Weather

We are having the most beautiful Fall weather right now. Last week we had some terrific winds that blew down many trees in some places. But not it has settled down and the trees are turning all kinds of colors. I think they are turning fast and earlier and I hope that doesn't mean an early winter. I see on my calender that I wrote down that we had a bit of snow on Oct 9 and 12th last year. The farmers are out in full force with their combines, bringing in the crops as quickly as they can. It has been so dry, they have no problem getting out into the fields. It is 74 degrees today and supposed to be nice all week. We are going to enjoy every bit of it as it can change overnight around here. We have had some frost already but so far most of the flowers have made it through.
