Allabama Nuclear Plant Shutdown - 2006

In 2006 an overloaded computer network shut down a nuclear reactor in Alabama. It is nine months later and regulators still cannot pinpoint the source of the failure. Since Sept ll, Congress has been concerned that utilities and other high risk facilities might be vulnerable to cyber-attacks because of their reliance on computer networks to control operations. The computer malfunction did not threaten plant safety and they are confident an outside hacker was not responsible. The the House Homeland Security committee urged a boader investigation this week as they feel there are too many unanswered questions. I think this will be an ongoing investigation.
