Jumping Frog Jubilee

Would you believe about 4,000 contestants entered the Calaveras county Fair's annual Jumping Frog Jubilee this year? That is twice as many as last year. But then last year the attendance was low, they thought, because it was rainy weather. But this Sunday it was a sunny day and every one was out to see the frogs jump. Although there was a little disagreement between organizers of the famous frog jumpint contest, that did not keep away thousands of frog wranglers. This was inspired by Mark Twain's tale of a frog jumping contest that was weighted in one gambler's favor when he secretly filled his opponent's frog with buckshot. I think that is funny, but guess it wouldn't be to the guy who lost the contest with his frog full of buckshot. The prizes are as follows: winning owners get a $750 prize or $5,000 if their frog breaks the l986 record of 21 feet 5 3/4 inches set by Rosie the Ribeter.
