Church

We had a big blizzard here a couple days ago.  It is still wreaking havoc with the roads.  The road graders are having a hard time keeping the roads open and clean.  I decided to stay home from church this morning.  I do not want to take a chance on landing in the ditch.  There are so many wonderful Christian television programs on that I can watch so I don't miss out on learning more from the Bible. I would rather be safe at home than sorry I went out on the road when it is only 14 degrees right now.

Blizzard Warning

We have been under a blizzard warning since yesterday.  Now it is starting up.  Snow fell overnight. The light fluffy stuff so when the wind begins to blow it will be whiteout here.  They say we could see wind gusts up to 50 and 60 mph making the wind chills about the same as that.  This is supposed to last until tomorrow night and then an additional day of below zero temperatures all day long. This has been the hardest winter since 1982 and they say anyone under 40 years has never seen a winter like this one. They have also said we could have "thunder snow".  I don't know if we have ever had that before but I guess it means more snow than usual.  We can't wait for Spring.

Snow? Blizzard?

Sounds like by Wednesday sometime and Thursday for sure, we will be getting a bunch of snow.  The winds are supposed to be terrible on Thursday so I look for whiteout conditions.  This is ok for me but I feel for the people that need to go to work.  I can stay home and look out the window at it.  We haven't really had any snow to speak of yet this winter which is great for a lot of us but it is bad for those who make a living moving snow.  Also those with snowmobiles are going nuts wanting to get out there and use them.  And those selling them are praying for snow.  Everyone says we need a White Christmas.  I don't.  I love a winter without snow.  Let it catch up on the moisture with warm Spring rains hopefully.  I heard on the news about 2 weeks ago that there was someone out mowing their lawn.  That person is nuts too.  The grass is dormant for the winter and I think the last thing it needs is mowing.  Better have their head examined :0).

Another Blizzard

We had just about 1/2" of snow last night and a little more today. And then the winds came up and are blowing at about 30 mph. All that snow is in the air and I can hardly see the next door neighbors. I am so glad I went to the grocery store this morning and also that I got the mail about 3 hours ago. It was just starting up then but now it is very very bad. I feel so sorry for those people going home from work. I see the neighborhood kids just came home from school early. It is a good thing. You can't see in town, let alone taking buses out into the country.

Blizzard Conditions

All day we have been in a winter storm warning. They say we could get 5 inches of new snow or more. It started about 2 hours ago and is coming down steadily. It is very very cold so the snow is dry and fluffy. Tonight the wind is going to come up and all that snow is going to be in the air.

Blizzard

Boy did we have a big bad blizzard in our part of the country. We had so much snow, it blew into huge snowdrifts so you couldn't really measure it. We think we got 6+ inches. I know just an hour from us they got 11 inches and other parts got even more. We stayed in the house for two days watching the snow blow by the windows. Driving wasn't allowed in our State at all. I am glad it is over but now we have sub zero temperatures and it is still dangerous to be outside for longer than a few minutes.

January Freeze

Boy, did we have a blizzard yesterday. It was a good old fashioned blizzard where the temperatures were down to and below zero and 3-4 inches of fluffy snow blowing 45 to 50 miles an hour. You could hardly see your neighbors. I looked out the window and could not see past the neighbors swing set. Now - that is BAD! There were so many accidents on the roads, freeways and even in town. Why don't people stay home when they can't see to drive?
