Celebration of Anniversary
We will be going out to supper with our daughter and her husband to celebrate their anniversary. It doesn't seem possible that they have 3 children and 4 grandchildren already and another on the way. We are going to a place that serves some of the best BBQ ribs around. It is just a little place in a very small town but usually those are some of the best home cooked food you can get. We are looking forward to it.

Church Surprise
My sister drove up for church this morning. That was quite a surprise. We were to have a guest speaker but she couldn't come so my sister got to hear our Pastor teach. She said she thought it was the first time she had heard him as there was always a guest speaker before when she came. It was a beautiful sunny day to drive up here. She is about an hour away from us. We are celebrating 30 years of the church and celebrating all month so every service has a little something from past days. Had a neat DVD of happenings over the years that was fun to watch.

70th Birthday Open House
We went to an Open House yesterday. It was an invitation to help a lady in our church celebrate her 70th birthday. I felt it was a bit young for an Open House. It seems most people wait until they are 80. But then again, a lot of people don't reach 80. Therefore, maybe it is a good idea. We had lots of good food to eat and it was like a family reunion for her with many of her family coming and also friends she went to school with.

Russia Marks 50 Years of Sputnik
Sputnik's launch began the superpower space race. Ceremonies are being held in Russia to mark the 50th anniversary of the start of the space age, the launch of the first satellite, Sputnik. Former Soviet cosmonauts, engineers and officials are taking part in events recalling what is considered one of the most significant moments in history. The launch was a propaganda coup for the Soviet Union during the Cold War and began the space race with the US. After years of decline, Russia is back in the space game with ambitious plans.

Here Comes Santa Claus
Well it's the big day! Everything is ready to take to the big Christmas dinner at my daughter's house. I make a special salad everyone loves and no one can beat my mashed potatoes.
